 *One person was killed after a collision with a train. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says a 16 year old boy from Ripley was hit and killed by a C-S-X train. Police say the incident happened last night around 9 pm. Authorities say a group of teenagers was playing around the railroad tracks in Ripley at the time of the incident. The name of the victim has not been released.

*A strike date by local emergency workers in Chautauqua County has been set. Next Thursdsay, May 15th at 7 in the morning union workers will walk-off the job...if a new contract is not negotiated before then. The union says it has notified W.C.A. Services of the strike date and the ball is now in their court. Since November, the union representing local emergency workers has rejected three contract proposals - citing unfair wages. The union and WCA officials will sit down next Tuesday to talk. And WCA says a back-up plan is already in the works in case a strike takes place. Officials say those needing medical services will be taken care of regardless of what happens next week.

*Two injured soldiers from Iraq are turning to hunting for therapy. Keith Place of Clearwater, Florida and Ceamus McDermott of Laconia, New Hampshire are on temporary leave from Walter Reed Medical Center. The two injured soldiers will not hunt spring gobblers in nearby McKean County. It’s all part of a national program to give the nation’s injured war heroes a chance to heal - outside the hospital walls. Similar programs are happening all over the country. Injured soldiers will be fishing and hunting - spending time away from hospitals before returning back to the military. Local communities like McKean County say they’re honored to play a part in the soldiers’ full recovery.

*A slumping economy could mean Mom gets less this Mother’s Day. The National Retail Federation says: Consumers spending less on Mom this year. The woman says her Mom is going to get something within reason. Many flower shops are keeping their prices low - even though their expenses have gone up...in order to help out folks this Mother’s Day.
